Fall Soccer Frequently Asked Questions

Option 1: Register Online

  • Visit www.celticfl.net
  • Payment with a credit card is preferred, but checks may also be accepted.
  • Uniform size requests will be documented. If you are unsure about a uniform size, you will need to attend one of the in-person registrations.

Option 2: Register In-Person

  • Times will be announced

A birth certificate will need to be provided to the Club (hard copy or email to info@celticfl.net), if one is not on file. This will be scanned and uploaded to the state’s governing body (FYSA) for age verification.

Registration Fees

  • U6 – $80
  • U8 – $130
  • U10 – $145
  • U12 – $160
  • U14-U19 – $180

These prices include uniform, field maintenance and volunteer fees. All registration costs can be made in multiple payments. The payment plan options are provided during the online registration. A late fee will be applied for late registrations.

The last day for U6 registrations will be August 31st. The last day for U8-U19 will be Sept 13th.

Volunteer Hours (does not apply to U6)

Families are required to contribute 4 volunteer hours per player. At registration, you will be asked for a $30, refundable fee to cover these hours. At the end of the season, if the hours have been met, you will receive a return check for the complete amount.

Fundraising

Each family is required to buy tickets to the annual fundraising raffle (U6- $10, U8-U19: $20). The tickets can then be sold to family and friends, to recoup the initial cost.

  • U6 games will begin on September 16, the Fall U6 festival and trophy day on Saturday October 14. Games are on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.
  • U8-U19: Practices will start in mid-October. The first game will be November 4th. The last game is February 3rd. GYSA Tournament begins the following week for U10+.

All teams are selected using the GYSA Guidelines to balance the age and skill level among teams.  Therefore, each team can only have three protected players: Coach’s child, Assistant Coach’s child, and Team Sponsor’s Child.

All other players are given a two-digit code to identify their age and experience (“Y” or “O” for Younger or Older, and either a “I” or an “E” for Inexperienced or Experienced).  The registrants are divided up into four groups (YI, YO, IE, IO), who are evenly placed onto teams.

When we have less than 6 teams, and have to enter those teams into GYSA, this process is very formal.  Special requests may be made, but are not guaranteed, and should not be expected.

When we have at least 6 teams (U6 and sometimes U8), we do not have to enter our teams into GYSA, which enhances our ability to grant special requests.  But it should be noted that any such requests are still not guaranteed.

This question is only applicable to U6-U12 ages.  All older ages only play at SJW.

The only way to guarantee this preference is to volunteer to coach a team or sponsor a team.  The Club tries very hard to assign players to play for teams based out of their preferred location.  However, all Recreational teams rely on volunteer parent coaches.  There are no paid or club-assigned coaches for any recreational teams.  Therefore, as an incentive and courtesy, the Club gives final preference to the Coaches to determine where they will practice/play.  Therefore, situations may arise where players may need to be assigned to fields, which are not their preference.

Please note that teams are filled in the order in which they are received.  So if you cannot coach or sponsor a team, you will give yourself the next best chance of practicing/playing out of the field of your preference, if you register early.  It should also be noted that the Club does not offer refunds if you are not able to play out of the field of your preference.

The age groups for the boys are U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U19. The age groups for the girls are U6, U8, U10, U12, U15, and U19. The “U” stands for “under”. For example, 6 and 7 year olds play in the U8 division. Your child’s “league age” is the year your child was born. Your child’s age group fills in automatically when you register online.

  • All players: soccer ball (U6/U8 size 3, U10/U12 size 4, U14+ size 5) cleats shinguards and a water bottle.
  • U6: The club will provide your child with a T-shirt. You will need to provide a pair of shorts and socks. The recommended color for both is black.
  • U8-U19: The club will provide the jersey, shorts, and socks.

U6:  For families that have registered to play primarily out of the Belleair facility, the schedule will be Tuesday and Saturday.  For families that have registered to play primarily out of the Seminole facility (SJWAA), the schedule will be Wednesday and Saturday.  The first two weeks, the teams will practice on those days. The following weeks, the teams will play games on those days. Game times on weeknights are at 6:00. However, teams are encouraged to arrive by 5:30, to practice and warm up. Game times on Saturdays will range between approximately 9:00 and 11:00.

U8-U19:  There will be one practice per week.  The exact day and times is selected by the Coach, to best suit his/her schedule.  All games are held on Saturdays.  In general, the younger age groups will be in the mornings.  Older age groups may play some afternoon games.  The exact schedule will not be set until about two weeks before the beginning of the season.

U6: For families that signed up to play primarily out of Belleair, the majority of games will be at the Belleair Rec Center.  Depending on the number of teams that finally register, some games will probably need to be played at SJW, to even out the schedule. The same applies for families that signed up to play primarily out of SJW.

U8 In-House: IF we have a minimum of 6 teams, the number of games that can be played at the field of your preference, will be dependent on the number of teams that register, and where those other teams prefer to play.  For example, if we have eight teams, and six of them prefer to play out of SJW, then the majority of the games will be there.

U8 GYSA: If we have less than 6 team sign up, then we are required to enter those teams into the county-wide league called GYSA (Gulfcoast Youth Soccer Association).  Teams in GYSA will play about half of their games at home, and half at other local clubs.  GYSA tries very hard to ensure the shortest possible travel times for all clubs, when travelling.  However, this is subject to change each year, depending on which clubs enter.  Home games will be played at either Belleiar or SJW (set by the Coach).

U10-U19: All teams will play in GYSA, as described above.

It is made up of 2 individual playing fields located on the back end of the complex.

  • The club will provide your child with a T-shirt. You will need to provide a pair of shorts and socks. The recommended color for both is black.

Our primary location will be the Belleair Recreational Center.  However, we only have the capacity for four teams at this facility (32 players).  If the final number of registered players exceeds four teams, we will host some teams at the Seminole fields.  Priority for any Seminole teams will be given in the order in which the registration is received.

If we do have teams at both Seminole and Belleair, there will obviously be travel between the two facilities for games.

All regular season games and practices will be on Mondays at Wednesdays at 6:00.  The end-of-season Festival is the only Saturday commitment, and will run from 9:00-1:00.

It should be noted, however, that Saturdays will be used for any games or practices that are rained out the previous week.  Times to be determined as needed.

Four and five year olds can participate.  Your child must be four years old by the start of play, which will be January 21st.  The FYSA age cutoff of for the 2015-2016 season is August 1st of 2015.  If your child has turned six since then, he/she is still eligible to play.

Team Sponsorship

The cost for team sponsorship is $125.  Your company’s name will be printed on the back of all the t-shirts.

Spring Soccer Frequently Asked Questions

Registration will open in early August and you can register online through a link which will be on our website or at one of our live registration dates at Belleair Rec Center, or Beef O’Brady’s Walsingham.

The practices are typically twice a week, and will be on any weekday Monday – Thursday.    U6 games will be twice a week, typically one week night and Saturday mornings.    All other age group games will be on Saturdays.

Our Club has two field locations:

  • SJWAA Soccer Complex (Seminole Fields)
  • Belleair Rec Center

U6 games will be shared between our SJWAA and Belleair Rec Center Locations.

When you register, you will be asked for a field preference request. Please note that we cannot guarantee this request, but will try to do so depending on the number of players that register in each age group. The second factor that affects the location for where a team practices and plays is the preference of the Coach. Without the coaches, we have no teams. So we try to give final preference to them.

In past years, we have had U6, U8, and U10 teams at both field locations. But our U12 and older ages have played only at the Seminole fields. This will likely be the case again this year. But as noted above, we cannot make final assignments until we finalize registration and assign coaches to teams.

Within any given age group, if we do have teams at both Seminole and Belleair, there will obviously be travel between the two facilities for games. The amount of travel will be proportional to the number of teams from each field location.

  • Soccer ball (U6/U8 size 3, U10/U12 size 4, U14+ size 5)
  • Cleats, shin guards, and a water bottle.
  • SJWAA Soccer Complex – Yes
  • Belleair Recreation Center – No

Florida Celtic SC has a great concession stand at Seminole Junior Warhawks Soccer Complex (SJWAA) that serves hot snacks, cold drinks, and plenty of candy. Celtic gear may also be available for purchase. Please visit the concession stand on any Saturday game day to help support our teams. Please note there is no concession stand at the Belleair fields.

The age groups are U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U19. The “U” stands for “under”. For example, 6 and 7 year olds play in the U8 division. However, your child’s “league age” is not the same as his/her current age. The “league age” is how old the child was before August 1st of last year. Your child’s age group fills in automatically when you register online.

Between $110-$215 depending on the age group and payment plan.

During the online registration, there is a place to make a note or request. We try to grant all playing requests. But we cannot guarantee any requests.

While we acknowledge the need to play with familiar friends and/or coaches, we also place a high priority on trying to create team parity, thru the Group Evaluations. Therefore, it is very important to attend the group evaluation sessions, where we rate the players’ abilities, and use those ratings, in conjunction with any requests and coaching volunteers, to form the teams.

The Club reserves the right to re-distribute players, as needed to maximize team parity.
