Secondly I wanted to thank every parent and player for their patience during the recent field closures. I am happy to report the fields are recovering well and we hope to be back into our schedule going forward. I fully understand it can be frustrating to not be able to practice but, the safety of our players is of paramount importance and we have a duty to make sure the complex conditions are safe when any player comes to practice.
In the coming weeks we look forward to starting back our technical sessions these session are free of charge for all players wishing to attend and each night is run by a director (normally from 5:30-6pm). These micro sessions are aimed at getting our players more touches of the ball. Please look out for emails stating the time and dates of these sessions as we will look to deliver these in 4 week blocks.
In other news at the club I am delighted to this year introduce the “develop the player, develop the person initiative.” In something that’s unique the club will be hosting homework tutoring to help out junior and academy age players to balance the soccer/education balance. Again, we will be sending out a time table for this, but below i have listed the main aims of the idea.
- Why? – To help develop the STUDENT athlete, we have to help players not only develop soccer understanding but also make sure they are balancing their school work.
- When- We aim to deliver this in 4 week blocks and offer this twice per week (5:30-6), the aim is instead of players arriving 30 mins early and messing around they can come into our complex meeting space work with a tutor and work through their homework or problems they are struggling with in class.
- Cost – nothing – it’s completely free.
- Who Tutors? – we look to have our senior players at the club who are in need of their NJHS volunteer hours and parents at the club who are qualified teachers.
At Celtic we are always looking to improve and support our players, we do require feedback to help us so please feel free to reach out to me with any ideas that you may have.
